Über Drei (Austria)

Drei (Hutchison Drei Austria GmbH) launched in 2003 as Austria's third mobile network operator, owned by CK Hutchison Holdings (the Hong Kong group that also owns Three UK). With 20.4% market share per Q2 2025 RTR data, Drei is the smallest of Austria's three full-network operators.

Drei's commercial differentiator is low latency: Opensignal records Drei at 24.86 ms mobile latency - the best among Austrian operators. Latency matters more than raw download speed for video calls, online gaming, and real-time apps. For Zoom-heavy workers or gamers, Drei is the natural pick.

Coverage is strongest in Vienna, Graz, Linz, and the inner cities; weakest in alpine and rural areas vs A1. The brand portfolio includes Drei (premium) and up by Drei (sub-brand targeting under-27s with the up Under27 tariff).

Drei provides the underlying network for the education-tier MVNO educom. The Drei app supports English natively, making Drei the most expat-friendly Austrian operator.
