Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 11 May 2026
SimCompare365 is committed to making its content accessible to the widest possible audience. This statement explains our target, the current state, and how to report issues. It is published in line with the European Accessibility Act (EAA), in force from 28 June 2025.
Conformance target
We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA as the minimum bar. The site does not yet have a third-party audit, so we describe the current state as partial compliance: most pages meet AA, with the known issues listed below.
What works today
- Semantic HTML — one H1 per page, ordered H2 / H3 headings, real tables with
<th scope>for data, real lists rather than styled divs. - Skip-to-main-content link on every page, focusable as the first interactive element.
- Keyboard navigation — every interactive element reachable by Tab. Country dropdown opens with hover or focus.
- Colour contrast — body text on the standard background passes WCAG AA at 4.5:1; primary headings and pastel labels are checked individually.
- Alt text on every informative image. Decorative graphics are marked
aria-hidden="true". - Responsive layout — site works at 320px width without horizontal scroll; text reflows at 200% browser zoom.
Known accessibility issues
- Country dropdown in the top nav opens on hover; the keyboard-equivalent (focus) works but is not announced by some screen readers. Fix planned: full ARIA listbox pattern by Q3 2026.
- Comparison tables on country hubs are wide. On phones they switch to a stacked card layout, but the desktop sorting controls are not yet usable from the keyboard. Fix planned: Q4 2026.
- FAQ details elements use the native
<details>pattern, which has inconsistent screen-reader support. We are evaluating a custom disclosure pattern.
How we test
- Automated: axe DevTools, Lighthouse accessibility audit, Pa11y in CI.
- Manual: keyboard-only navigation pass per quarter. Screen-reader spot-checks with VoiceOver (macOS) and NVDA (Windows).
- Third-party audit: not yet commissioned. We expect to commission one in 2026.
