Updated May 14, 2026 · By Jules de Bruin · Germany's largest supermarket prepaid MVNO.
Updated May 2026. ALDI TALK is Germany's largest supermarket prepaid brand, with roughly 10 million subscribers. It is owned by ALDI Süd via Medion AG (part of Lenovo) and runs on the O2/Telefónica network with 5G on Smart tariffs. Starter packs are sold at every ALDI Nord and ALDI Süd checkout across Germany. Headline tariffs include the Kombi-Paket S at EUR 8.99 / 4 weeks for 25 GB and the Jahres-Paket XS at EUR 69.99 for 60 GB / year.
What is ALDI TALK?
ALDI TALK is the prepaid mobile brand of German discount-supermarket chain ALDI, launched in 2005. It is operated by Medion AG — a Lenovo subsidiary that has been ALDI's long-time consumer-electronics partner — and runs as an MVNO on the O2/Telefónica network across Germany.
ALDI TALK is widely cited as the biggest supermarket prepaid brand in Germany and one of the largest MVNOs in Europe, with subscriber estimates around 10 million. It sits inside the Telefónica Germany wholesale ecosystem alongside earlier E-Plus partners that were folded into O2 after the 2014 merger.
The portfolio centres on 4-week Kombi-Paket bundles (data plus calls and SMS) and a set of Jahres-Paket annual prepaid packs. The Kombi-Paket S currently lists 25 GB at EUR 8.99 every four weeks; the Kombi-Paket M at EUR 13.99 / 4w bumps the allowance to 50 GB. The Jahres-Paket XS at EUR 69.99 for 60 GB / year is positioned as the cheapest annual prepaid on any German national network. Most current tariffs include 5G on the Smart product line, with download speeds capped at 100 Mbit/s on the standard ladder.
The brand is sometimes split in marketing between ALDI TALK (offered through ALDI Süd stores) and ALDI Nord's identical product range, but both share the same Medion-operated platform and tariff list.

Where do you buy ALDI TALK?
ALDI TALK starter packs are sold at every ALDI Nord and ALDI Süd cashier in Germany, alongside top-up vouchers. SIMs can also be ordered online at alditalk.de with home delivery, and most tariffs can be activated and managed entirely through the ALDI TALK app.
The supermarket-checkout model is the brand's structural advantage. A starter pack — commonly listed at EUR 12.99 with EUR 10 starting credit — is stocked behind the till at thousands of ALDI stores nationwide. Customers can also pick up top-up vouchers in EUR 15 / 30 / 50 denominations at the same point, or auto-top-up via SEPA direct debit inside the app.
Because German law requires identity verification for all prepaid SIMs, buyers must complete an ID check (video-ident or PostIdent at a Deutsche Post branch) before the SIM is activated. The physical card is sold openly at the till, but the number only becomes active after the ID step is completed.
Online, alditalk.de offers the same tariff ladder, plus eSIM provisioning on supported devices and free shipping within Germany.
